In just 11 minutes experience the most iconic ride from the sea level to the majestic mountain Lovcen. But that’s just the beginning—at the top, you’ll find entertainment and activities for the entire family. From the Alpine Coaster with the view of Boka Bay to the easy hiking trail in the woods of National Park Lovcen, to relaxation at the restaurant of Forza Kuk and bar Monter1350Bar.
Cable Car Kotor – Lovcen surprised me most positively. Here’s a detailed blog post about my experience.
Getting to the Cable Car Kotor – Lovcen
We started our day with a refreshing morning swim in Boka Bay (find popular beaches in Kotor) before heading to the Cable Car Kotor – Lovcen in the afternoon. Although it’s possible to reach the highest point Kuk from the Cetinje side directly, we decided to go from the lowest point to make our trip even better.
The Cable Car’s lowest point it’s easily reachable by car from Budva, Kotor, Tivat, or any location in Boka Bay. The drive is from 30 minutes to 1 hour when it’s not a traffic jam.
If you decide to go from Cetinje, an Old Royal Capital, you can enjoy stunning roads and landscapes through the National Park Lovcen.

The Ride From The Sea To The Mountain Lovcen
In just an 11-minute ride you can go from 32 meters above the sea to the (Dub station) to 1348 meters above the sea on the Kuk station (Mountain Lovcen).
During this short ride, the entire panorama of Tivat, the airport, and Kotor is on as in the palm of your hand making a picture-perfect postcard view. This is a truly unique experience for any tourist unlike anything else and one of the top things to do in Montenegro. As cable car climbs higher and higher the view is better. At one point, right over your shoulder, you will have an iconic picture of Kotor Bay.
I recommended trying to go before dark, then wait for sunset, and then go down at night to see Boka Bay and Kotor at lights. It’s so AMAZING!
Starting point at Dub, Kotor:
Experience Alpine Coaster
I have to admit I was very surprised by the Alpine coaster. This was my first time to try something like this. Driving at 40 kph and having a stunning view of sea horizonts something different. You can the slower or with kids if prefer, stop any time to take pictures of the amazing nature.
Restaurants and Cafes
If you enjoy dining with a view or just having a nice espresso, Forza Kuk restaurant is something you must try especially due to the great panoramic view.
However, if you’re planning to stay for dinner, be sure to bring a warm shirt as with night temperature on the Lovcen drops below 20C during summer.
Hiking Trail
So, not just an 11-minute ride or an Alpine coaster, you have many other activities. A very well-mapped hiking trail of a few kilometers or a biking tour with Velo experiences can fulfill your day at Lovcen.
Sure you can organize a visit to the Mausoleum of Njegos or a short trip to “Ivanova korita”, these are also highly recommended if you have more time.
Monte1350 Bar with Iconin Sunset View Over Boka Bay
While I had great fun with the Alpine coaster, nothing can compare with watching sunset over the Boka Bay and drinking beer at Monte1350Bar. It is a few minutes’ walk from Kuk station.
Besides stunning views of Boka Bay and surrounding mountains, Monte1350 offers a great atmosphere and vibe and nice music you can enjoy.
